Sorry I haven't updated this blog in quite some time.

I've moved my blog to my personal webspace.  If you'd like to view it, you may at http://blog.roweware.com.

Thanks,

Got a new phone from a sweepstakes I entered with Verizon Wireless.  Nice phone, except that Verizon disabled most good features, for everybody, not just me.

Dave's not happy with Verizon.

So I decided to put a "Short Ram Air Intake" on the ol' Honda Accord.

The intake is from APC, chrome is the color.  I was thinking about
getting a sweet powder-coated, blue.  But I didn't really feel
like waiting for a UPS shipment, or paying for it either.

I should've taken pictures during the install, it was quite amusing...

Holy smokes...pet peeve of mine.

A kid in my File Structures class as well as my Stats class has always spoke VIOLENTLY against Microsoft.  He appears to loathe anything out of Redmond, Washington.  He says Linux is the way to go, only open-source.  Very passionatea about it.  I can appreciate this, I also am a big fan of Linux, but I don't bash Microsoft, because without them the state of personal computing would be back a bit.  So I've gone on my merry way, knowing his feelings about it.  So today he brings his laptop to class.  I expected Gentoo or Debian, or any flavor of Linux, but no.  It boots up WINDOWS XP - Professional.  Now this is the pro edition, more expensive / powerful than the Home edition.  Wow, a Linux zealot that uses Windows XP.  I'm typing this with a Debian variant of linux, but I also have Windows 2000 on another partition of my Hard-drive.  I am far from a Linux zealot, but apparantly I use it more than this fellow.  WOW, I'm flabergasted.

Well the weekend wasn't as refreshing as I thought it would be.  I thought it would be nice to catch up on some sleep, as the past week has been incredibly busy.  But, Friday night I decided to work on the Web Services stuff we'll be implementing at work in the next couple of months.  I attempted to connect a BEA WebLogic server with a MySQL database but was unsuccessful.  You see, I was attempting to run both the MySQL server and the WebLogic server on my laptop and things were getting hung up on the whole localhost thing.  So (Saturday) I setup the MySql server on the desktop in our basement and attempted again.  This time I was successful.  Great news.

Well, I tried something new Saturday afternoon, and I recommend it to anyone who may read this.  It's called Letterboxing.  It's where someone will place a box (tupperware) with a little notebook and pencil or other things inside, somewhere outside.  Then they post clues on the internet, typcially they're "thinker" clues, where you have to see things to put them together.  It's quite interesting, and I figured it's a great reason to go outsidem and enjoy the fresh air.

Stef was in Colorado for the weekend, so it was kind of a bummer not to see her this weekend.  I was going to go with her, but I had to work.  I'm glad she got to go though.  She got to spend time with her "Papa" who has had a rough past couple of months.  I can't wait to see her Tuesday though.
